Nathan Cook's Mission

Coming home from my mission has definitely had its benefits, but not a day goes by that I don't think about my mission. Luckily I had the opportunity to serve in the greatest mission in the world, the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. It is awesome for me because I can keep in touch with the people I taught through Facebook and other online venues, but I also only live 5 hours away from the people I taught!

One of the great people I taught was a lady named Thi Tonnu. She is a Vietnamese lady who was introduced to the church by her boyfriend. The best thing about Thi was her desire to want to know for herself if the gospel was true. Her boyfriend didn't even come to the lessons because she wanted to make sure he didn't sway her one way or the other. She took diligent notes and asked tons of questions. Eventually as she kept her commitments and read and prayed, she received an answer and was baptized a little over a year ago.

In that same area I covered a singles ward and met 2 other amazing people; Phil Pilera and Tricia Sebastian. Both Phil and Tricia were introduced to the church by their friends. Because of that friendship, they both joined the church a year and a half ago, and we are now friends because of it. Phil was ordained an Elder this past January and is now teaching new member lessons with his new girl friend. (Hopefully they get sealed in the temple!) Tricia is still attending the singles ward and is a ward missionary. I thank the Lord for allowing me to serve a mission and meet these great people.
